Justice Health is committed offering its employees opportunities for skills development, ongoing education and career advancement. The Forensic Hospital is a hub in forensic psychiatry, hosting the largest training program in Australia.

Justice Health has partnered with the University of New South Wales (UNSW) to develop the Masters degree in Forensic Mental Health Program.

Justice Health is responsible for providing healthcare to men, women and adolescents in custody throughout New South Wales. The service incorporates a diverse number of settings: metropolitan and regional, health centres and hospitals, the law courts, a variety of community environments and post-release settings.

The twelve-month program offers graduates a range of opportunities for practical experience including Forensic Mental Health, Mental Health Adults and Adolescents, Drug & Alcohol, Primary Health, Aged Care, Medical Surgical, Women's Health and Adolescent Health.

Justice Health Mentoring Program

Justice Health's Mentoring Program has been eagerly embraced by mentors and mentees since its inception in 2006. The program is designed to hone the expertise and enhance the skills of managers employed at Justice Health.

A mentee is matched with a mentor from the Executive or senior management team who has no supervisory relationship to them. Meeting on a regular basis, mentoring provides both parties with the opportunity to share their professional and personal skills and experiences, and to grow and develop in the process.

The mentoring relationship is based upon encouragement, constructive criticism, strategic guidance, openness, mutual trust, respect and a willingness to listen, learn and share.

Justice Health Management Development Program

The Management Development Program provides employees of Justice Health with a fantastic opportunity to improve their management skills such as performance management and financial management and to network with other members of the organisation. With active involvement and support from the Executive and senior management, the Management Development Program (MDP) is designed to build management capacity and influence a positive organisational culture through self-evaluation, education and networking.

Clinical Excellence Commission, Clinical Leadership Initiative Partnership

The Clinical Excellence Commission's Clinical Leadership Program is a twelve month program delivered within Justice Health for clinicians wishing to develop and enhance their clinical leadership skills. It aims to improve strategies for sustainable patient safety and systemic improvement especially as they relate to strong clinical leadership.

This multidisciplinary program uses a structured experiential development approach and is particularly suited to nurses, allied health and medical officers who are leading a clinical team.
